I have been having a problem backing up Windows 2000 workstations with Veritas's Backup Exec 8.6 on our NT4 server....
The error that I receive is: "The connection to the data to backup has been lost. Backup set cancelled." However, one of these workstations had NT4 on it before; and we had no problems until we upgraded. Is this a problem with their being no Domain Controller or could it be a possible security bug on Win2000? All the other NT workstations systems don't experience these type of symptoms. So far Veritas does not have an answer for me. I would continue to work with Veritas on this problem. In this case, I don't think you're seeing a bug in Windows 2000; most likely it could be a problem with the network or the Backup Exec software. Have you installed the Backup Exec Remote Agent Accelerator? Also, you might try taking a Network Monitor capture during the backup to see if that sheds any clues as to the problem.
