Here's how to save messages or folders out of a .pst file onto the hard drive so the .pst file doesn't get too large.

In Outlook 2000, open a new e-mail message in Outlook 2000. Select "Insert Item," select the files and or folders you wish to save, make sure "Insert As Attachment" is checked and click "OK." Then click on "File>Save Attachments," click "OK" and choose where on the hard drive you want them saved.

You can now go back and delete them out of the Outlook folder. This will give you extra protection from corrupted .pst files.
