Internet Mail Service failure notification

To solve the problem of not knowing that the MS Exchange IMS has failed/stopped until angry users complain about unreceived e-mails, do the following :

Create a batch file, containing a "net send 'admins pc' The IMS has failed etc". Then within the properties of the MSEX IMS service, under the recovery tab, specify "on first faliure" to run a file, then in the "Run File" box, specify the batch file that you created earlier.

This will now send a message to the users' machines specified within the batch file, alerting them to the fact that the service has stopped.
