The original ADModify tool was written in C++, but the 2.0 revision has been completely rewritten from the ground up in Visual C# using .NET. People who have used the original version of the utility should notice a significant improvement in performance, as well as many changes to the program.
There are numerous new features in ADModify.Net aimed specifically at Exchange Server administrators, including:
- Exchange Mailbox rights can now be edited interactively -- they can be dumped out to an XML file, imported from an XML dump and applied, and add/remove users with specific rights to/from multiple mailboxes at once.
- You now have the ability to bulk undo operations (with a few exceptions), so that changes made from a bulk-operations XML file can be rolled back cleanly.
You can download ADModify.Net from Microsoft.
For detailed discussion of this version of the tool, go to the Microsoft blog entry ADModify.Net is here!.This is the original blog post by the authors that discusses the changes available.
(Thanks to Dan Winter for making this tool available to the general public.)
