Many of our team members were using Exmerge on Exchange servers to extract mail from users' mailboxes. We ran into issues where people would forget to remove .PST files from the default location on the C: drive, resulting in full or nearly full drives bringing Exchange down.
The other issue we ran into was that when people would log off of the server, after they were done using Exmerge, sometimes they would shut down the boxes by accident, instead of just logging off. They didn't use Exmerge on a Win2k Terminal Server because it wasn't working for them as they expected.
This is because before you can use Exmerge on a Win2k Terminal Server, you have to open a command prompt and type "C:change user /install." Then, when you are done with Exmerge, you go back to the command line and type "C:change user /execute".
Now you never have to worry about filling up your C: drives with old .pst files and/or someone accidentally shutting down Exchange.
