If you have thousands of mail-enable contacts to add to Active Directory, use the CVSDE tool to import a text delimited file.

Add two colums:

  1. proxyAddress
  2. mailNickname

Populate the proxyAddress column with SMTP address.
e.g., SMTP:SOKON@OMINIMAIL.COM

The mailNickname should be the user name or alias.

MEMBER FEEDBACK TO THIS EXCHANGE SERVER TIP

I just wanted to point out that the code should be proxyAddresses rather than proxyAddress (proxyAddress does not work).

To mail enable an external contact within an Exchange Server 2003 environment, you also need to populate targetAddress with SMTP:name@domain.co.uk .
