Discover an Outlook Web Access third-party add-in called MasterKey.net that allows users to seamlessly access email addresses and contacts in an LDAP or X.500 address book directory.

When composing messages in Outlook Web Access (OWA), you can choose email addresses from two sources (unless you type in an address manually): the Global Address List (GAL) and the Contacts list. But what if you want to use addresses from an X.500 or LDAP server in Outlook Web Access?

OWA doesn't normally allow access to X.500 or LDAP directories through its default interface, but there is a third-party add-in called MasterKey.net that will allow you to do just that.

MasterKey.net adds any available X.500 or LDAP address book directory to the "Find names in:" dropdown list in OWA. When you use the "Check Names" function in OWA 2003, names entered into the To: field of an email message can also be checked against the X.500 or LDAP directories.

Title, etc.) are matched against the LDAP or X.500 directory servers as well as to the GAL and Contacts list. In addition, the search fields used to scour LDAP or X.500 address book directories can be customized based on administrator requirements.

MasterKey.net does not affect Outlook Web Access features, such as SSL support and HTTPS authentication, and there is no change to OWA's user interface.

The pricing of MasterKey.net is negotiable, depending on the number of seats being used. You'll need to contact the manufacturer for more details and a price quote.
