BRONZE AWARD: GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP
Our judges awarded the Bronze Award for SearchExchange.com's Products of the Year 2006 in the Exchange Server Security category to GFI Software Ltd for its GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP.
GFI MailSecurity for Exchange/SMTP protects email against viruses, exploits and Trojans using multiple virus scanning engines that include McAfee, Kaspersky and BitDefender for scanning inbound email. By using these different engines, it can detect security threats more quickly.
The product has an email content- and attachment-checking module that quarantines those it finds threatening. It also has an exploit shield, an HTML threats engine it uses to disable threatening HTML scripts and a Trojan and executable scanner.
Our judges gave this product high ratings on performance, ease of integration and functionality.
Among the features they liked:
- It provides a lot of features for the price.
- It offers its own proprietary scanning engines and allows customers to add other engines from McAfee, Kaspersky and BitDefender on top of GFI's.
- It has the ability to run as a gateway or back-end virus scanner API solution.
- New RSS feeds are available from the quarantine folder.
Pricing: It ranges in price from $495 for up to three nodes to $20,000 for up to 500 nodes, with many options in between. There are also options for more than 500 nodes and for consultant licenses.
