I'm evaluating backup software for the Exchange 2000 platform, and I'd like to know what application(s) you recommend. I have 3,000 mailboxes in two storage groups and four mailbox stores, including public folder store. I would need online backup and per-mailbox recovery.

I've used both NTBackup and Veritas BackupExec to back up Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2000 online. I'm currently using BackupExec version 8.6 in production, and so far it has served me well.

I would, however, recommend that you download trial versions of Exchange-aware backup software and try them yourself. You may have special needs in your environment or likes and dislikes that differ from mine.
