QUESTION POSED ON: 19 February 2009
I'm currently deploying Exchange Server 2003 SP2 and am trying to find out if there is a way to accurately report on our Outlook Mobile Access (OMA) usage. I'd like to find out who is connecting and when, along with the amount of resources being used. Is there an easy way to do this?

This information should be contained in the Internet Information Services (IIS) logs on the servers providing Outlook Web Access (OWA) for your organization.

To get started, you will first want to obtain Log Parser 2.2. You will also want to download Microsoft Office Web Components, which can be used by Log Parser to create visual graphs as output.

You will then need to find out which users are accessing your server via OMA and begin your queries by searching for their user names. After these searches return some representative results, you should be able to run some more effective queries and get the specific information you need. As a reference, read this blog entry by the Exchange team on how to query ActiveSync information from the IIS logs.
