QUESTION POSED ON: 12 November 2008
I have a problem similar to the one discussed in How to move Exchange 2000 to a larger machine. My Exchange 2000 server is running out of disk space and I want to move the application to new server hardware with greater disk and storage capacity. The solution listed was to build a new server, join the existing organization, and then move users from the legacy server to the newly built server. Do you know where I can find easy step-by-step instructions on how to do this?

Next, build a brand new server and install Microsoft Windows and the latest service packs, and then run the Exchange Server installation CD. During Exchange Server setup, specify that you want to join an existing Exchange implementation. Once you've got the new server online with the required service packs, you can move mailboxes from the source server to the target server. Finally, follow the steps to decommission the first Exchange server from the administrative group.
