QUESTION POSED ON: 12 November 2008
I am trying to install Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition on a site that has never had Microsoft Exchange Server installed in the past. When I run the setup from the DVD, I get the following error message:

The image file F: is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine.

The operating system (OS) is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2 on HP ProLiant DL380 G3 hardware servers with 2x2.8 Ghz processors, 2 GB RAM, 6x36 GB hard disks and RAID 1+0.

I have been unsuccessful at troubleshooting this error message. Any help would be appreciated.

You may be trying to install 64-bit Exchange Server 2007 on a 32-bit Windows OS. You must confirm that you're running 64-bit Windows Server 2003.

The hardware itself is 64-bit compatible, because the HP ProLiant DL380 is a 64-bit Intel Xeon server. Below are the links for more specific information on the DL380:
