QUESTION POSED ON: 21 August 2008
I am a domain administrator at a school district that is using Exchange Server 2003 for email. Suddenly, I can no longer send email from my BlackBerry 7100i mobile device. Other BlackBerry features – such as calendars, tasks, Internet and phone calls -- work. I can also receive and read Exchange Server email, but I can't send or reply to email. It seems as though the BlackBerry Administrators group (BBAdmin) is being dropped from my group list in Active Directory (AD). Is this part of the problem, or is it something more specific?

You've likely hit your mailbox quota specified in Exchange Server. On the BlackBerry mobile device, click Email Options -> Email Reconciliation -> Purge Deleted Items.

MEMBER FEEDBACK TO THIS ASK THE EXPERT Q&A:

This problem can also be caused by the Exchange update that prevents members of the domain admin group from having the 'Send To' permission. Since this permission is removed, the BlackBerry server can not send email, on behalf of a user, if they are in the domain admin group. A user who needs domain administrator rights should be placed in the administrators group and not the domain admin group.
