QUESTION POSED ON: 20 December 2007
The Microsoft Exchange 2000 System Attendant service will not start. It is giving me the error 1053: "the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

I've already tried moving several accounts to the Users directory folder, but that did not fix the problem. I also noticed, when checking other problems, that my Exchange 2000 server is shown as a replication partner for my domain. I think this is incorrect. Any advice on getting the Exchange System Attendant service running would be greatly appreciated.

EXPERT RESPONSE
There are many possible causes for the 1053 error you're receiving. I suggest you read the Microsoft article You receive a 'could not start the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service on local computer' error message when you try to start the Exchange System Attendant service. If that doesn't help, write back with further details.
