QUESTION POSED ON: 24 July 2007
I have a client with a Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2003. Email is delivered via SMTP. A user has moved to a sister organization and requires all email to her local (org.local) and existing (org.uk.com) domain to be forwarded to her new email address at the sister organization (user@neworg.com). How can I set up the Exchange server to achieve this?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE
The easiest way to configure forwarding to her new email address is to create a contact in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC). Give it an SMTP address corresponding to her newest email address (user@neworg.com). Once the Recipient Update Service (RUS) has run its magic and you can now "see" this contact in your address book, configure forwarding of her older accounts/addresses to the contact on the Exchange General Tab of each user account. As a final step, you may want to hide the contact from the address book, using the Exchange Advanced Tab of the contact, so that regular users do not see it in the address book.
