QUESTION POSED ON: 08 November 2005
Is it possible to create Exchange public folders in any other way except using the Microsoft Outlook client or Exchange System Manager? We are using Exchange 2000, and during migrations I have to create public folder structures for our clients, which can be quite big. Doing it by hand gets tiresome, so I was looking for a way to automate this.

I have looked at PFAdmin, PFInfo and other tools, but I cannot find any tool or method to automate this process. Do you know of any way to script this or any tools for this job?

To migrate public folders from one server to another in the same routing group you can use the pfmigrate.wsf script located in the SupportExDeploy folder on the Exchange Server 2003 CD. The version of pfmigrate that ships with Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 lets you migrate public folders across sites/routing groups. You can also replicate public folders across organizations using the InterOrg Replication Tool.

If you're only looking to dump public folder information and recreate the public folder hierarchy in a new set up, you may need to script the process.
