It sounds like the Outlook address book service is not associated with the users Outlook MAPI profile.
If you are using Outlook 2003, you would need to do the following:
- Go to Start -> Programs -> Control Panel -> Mail -> Show profiles -> Select profile -> Properties -> E-mail accounts.
- After that, verify that the Outlook address book service is present. If there is one there, you should remove and then add.
