QUESTION POSED ON: 08 September 2004
Is it possible to have one Exchange 2000 server (on a Windows 2000 OS) replicate to another server based in another building for disaster recovery?

For example, the second server will be connected via a VLAN across the Internet and have all mailboxes replicated nightly.

This is definitely not possible using native Microsoft technologies and also not a cheap solution to implement. That being said, you could explore technologies from the following vendors, among others: NSI Software's DoubleTake, VERITAS Volume Replicator, XOsoft, Geocluster and EMC. If you decide to go this route make sure you have great support with the vendor as Microsoft does not support most of these solutions.
