Why can't I do online backup for my Exchange 5.5 server?

I can't do online backup for the information store in Exchange 5.5 Server since it is in use. But in the Exchange Server book, it says online backup is possible. Is there something wrong with my system?

I'm not sure if there is something wrong with your system because I don't have the details on how you are trying to back it up. You can take online backups of Exchange 5.5 using both the built-in Windows NT Backup utility or by using a third-party utility.
