Why are old appointment notices popping up in Outlook 2000?

I have two Outlook 2000 clients that have a recurring problem with their calendar. Every Monday morning, they get pop-up reminders from old appointments. I looked at the settings on some of these, and they are recurring appointments and such, but the settings are for once a year. What could be causing past appointments to pop up with reminder boxes? Just to let you know, we are running Exchange 2000.

There is a startup command line switch for Outlook you can run that should be able to clean and reset your reminders. To resolve the problem, simply launch Outlook.exe /CleanReminders.
