Was this database recently restored from a backup, or was some maintenance recently performed against it? Is it possible that someone deleted one or more transaction log files? It sounds like it may need a small repair job. The error actually translates to JET_ErrFileNotFile, which indicates one or more files is missing. See if Microsoft Knowledge Base article 176239 or Microsoft Knowledge Base article 161584 help resolve this problem. Both of those articles discuss this particular error in your particular situation.
