Q

Installing two Exchange 2000 servers in the same domain

I want to install Exchange 2000 on a backup server, which is to be taken off site. In the event of a fire, I should be able to restore data from tape backups to Backup Server and get Exchange to work as normal. Is it possible to install two Exchange 2000 servers in the same domain?
There is no limit to the number of Exchange 2000 servers you can have in a single Windows domain; however, you will not be able to use a second server in that manner. Recovery for Exchange 2000 typically requires an alternate forest and recovery server. These are systems that have the same AD names and Exchange server name as your production systems, but they are not on your production network. See this article for more information on Exchange Disaster Recovery.
