How can I speed up Exchange Server 2000?

What can I do to speed up my Exchange Server 2000? Even my LAN is not as perky as it should be. My WAN connection is slower. I have McAfee Group Shield Running to protect from viruses.

This is difficult to answer completely without performing a thorough analysis of what resources are being used. You need to monitor and measure disk, CPU, memory and network usage to see if you have any bottlenecks present. In addition, because you indicated that your LAN and WAN connections are slow, you should also investigate what is happening on the network to see what is consuming the bandwidth.
