Q

Canceled server installation creating queue floods

We are running Exchange 2000 in a Windows 2000 server environment. One of our new employees went to bring up a Windows 2003 server and Exchange 2003 on a new server in the same domain. The installation was not completed and is presently on hold.

We now show the new "Server3" in the servers profile in Exchange System Manager, and it is not online or in service. Some e-mail is being routed to this non-server and causing massive tie-ups in the queue. How do we delete the presence of this server?

You can delete the object from the server list (right-click Delete). It will let you delete this, even if the object is offline. There is another article XADM: You cannot delete an Exchange server organization in Active Directory that discusses the removal of the server using ADSIEdit.
